Prom in the 21st Century...

Article on Huffington Post

What is happening to our young ladies where they think this is appropriate for anywhere outside of a strip club? What are we teaching young black people? Why aren't there any alternatives to the negative images of black women that can counteract all of the garbage young black people are exposed to? Where are the black fathers who should be there to protect their daughters, and love their daughters, and show them that they are better than this?

Now, I know it's been a while since I've been to prom, however, the differences between classy and trashy has not changed with the times. I know this girl knew that her dress was inappropriate for all times. She is a pretty girl, and it is upsetting that she thought she had to wear something like this in order to be seen as pretty or attractive, or sexy, or desireable to the opposite sex. When did half-naked become classy for the prom? Or for anytime? And who let her walk out of the house wearing these pieces of cloth? We really need to do better.
