It's Time to Get Ready for November

May 6th was a wonderful day. First it was my birthday, which in and of itself is great. But, it was also primary day for NC and Indiana, and Sen. Obama increased his lead in delegates, and more firmly staked his claim as the Democratic Presidential nominee.

In NC, Sen. Obama won convincingly over Sen. Clinton, 56% to 42%. And in Indiana, Sen. Clinton squeaked out a win, beating Sen. Obama 51% to 49%. Basically, even her win in Indiana did not help her in the delegate race, and it has not helped her in trying to convince the superdelegates that she should be the nominee.

My biggest issue about the primaries of the last month and half, is that the political analysts/pundits, journalists, as well as the Clinton camp continue to make the case that Sen. Obama cannot win the blue collar, lower class white vote. Personally, in those few cases where he cannot reach these voters, it isn't b/c his message isn't getting thru, it's because he is black. And, by Sen. Clinton saying she is more electable b/c she can reach these voters, she is saying I can reach them b/c I am white, and they identify more with that whiteness than with her policies, or with her as a person. Honestly, Sen. Clinton is a wealthy woman, and the only thing she has in common with poor whites is skin color. Many, if not all or poor whites, have more in common with Sen. Obama's socioeconomic background than they do with Sen. Clinton.

The truth is, both Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton have similar ideas, strategies, and policies about the future of this country. And it is absurd to not vote for Sen. Obama, if Sen. Clinton doesn't win. He would be much better for this country than Sen. McCain, who will just continue the same bad policies we've been under for the last 8 years. I pray that all democrats wake up, and get behind Sen. Obama when Sen. Clinton is officially out of the race. We all have a common goal, and we all have to work together to make sure we do not have another 4 years of the same lunacy. Personally, I think it is time for Sen. Clinton to drop out so we can move on as a party, and get ready for November!!
